What should I do to avoid becoming attached to a supplication I hope will be answered, while continuing to make it?

It is better to entrust all matters to Allah and to ask Him to facilitate good wherever it may be, because a person does not know where the good lies and may wish for something that is harmful to them. Allah Almighty says: "And it may be that you dislike something while it is good for you, and it may be that you love something while it is evil for you. And Allah knows while you know not." Therefore, adhering to comprehensive supplications and asking Allah to facilitate good carries immense benefit. Ibn al-Qayyim warned against asking for something specific when its goodness is unknown. If it is necessary to ask for it, it should be conditioned upon Allah's knowledge of its goodness, and performing istikharah should be a matter of seeking knowledge, not merely uttering words. Nevertheless, asking for a specific permissible thing is not forbidden, but it is better to condition the matter upon Allah's knowledge of what is good for the person.
