Is masturbation forbidden? And what is the way to stop it?

Masturbation necessitates ghusl (ritual bath) and is forbidden by the Qur’an and Sunnah, as Allah Almighty says: "But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors." And as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O young men, whoever among you can afford to marry, let him do so, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding modesty. And whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him." It is recommended to increase fasting, acts of obedience, and remembrance of Allah, and to stay away from provocations such as pictures, movies, and songs. Occupy your time with reading or trade, and keep good company.
