What is the miraculous nature of the Isra and Mi'raj incident involving the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in which the Buraq carried the Prophet?
The Isra' and Mi'raj was a miracle granted to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. It began with his night journey (Isra') from the Sacred Mosque to Jerusalem, riding on the Buraq accompanied by Gabriel, peace be upon him. There, he tied the Buraq to a ring on the mosque's door, then entered Al-Aqsa Mosque and led the prophets in prayer. Afterwards, Gabriel ascended with him to the heavens, and in each heaven, he greeted a prophet who welcomed him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was then raised to the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, and then to Al-Bayt Al-Ma'mur (the Frequented House). He chose milk from among wine and honey, and it was said to him: "This is the natural inclination (fitra)." Fifty prayers were enjoined upon him that night, so he appealed to his Lord until they were reduced to five prayers. When he informed the polytheists about what had happened, and they disbelieved him, Allah Almighty revealed Jerusalem to him so he could describe it to them.
