What is the way to repent and return stolen money to one's father without his knowledge?

Theft is a major sin, and its حرمة (sacred inviolability/prohibition) increases if it is committed by a son against his father's property, due to the element of disobedience (عقوق) involved. The thief must repent and return the money to his father. The money can be returned to him through indirect means without him knowing its source, such as sending it via a postal transfer with a printed message stating that someone who had unjustly taken the money is now returning it, or by presenting it to him as a gift or to settle a debt owed to him, all while frequently supplicating for him.
