What is the common ground between the supplication, "O Allah, reckon me with an easy reckoning," and the supplication, "O Allah, admit me to Paradise without reckoning," taking into consideration that the first supplication is authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and that the second supplication requests entry into Paradise without reckoning?

The gist of the fatwa is that the supplication, "O Allah, reckon me with an easy reckoning," has not been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Easy reckoning means being presented before Allah and having one's sins overlooked, as opposed to a difficult reckoning which leads to perdition. There are three categories of people on the Day of Resurrection: a group that will enter Paradise without reckoning (those foremost in good deeds), a group that will be reckoned with an easy reckoning (the moderate ones), and a group that will be thoroughly questioned and examined (those who wronged themselves). It is permissible for a Muslim to supplicate with this du'a for himself, as it is a request for a high status with Allah.
