Is it true that whoever is punished by the mentioned verse because he followed his whims, his repentance will not be accepted?
Whoever repents sincerely, Allah will accept his repentance. As for him whom Allah has led astray and whose hearing, heart, and sight He has sealed, Allah does not intend guidance for such a person, so he will not be granted repentance unless Allah wills. Al-Tabari said that the Almighty’s saying: “And Allah has sent him astray knowingly” means He abandoned him from guidance because of His knowledge that he would not be guided. And His saying: “Then who will guide him after Allah?” means that he will not find for himself any guiding guardian after Allah has led him astray.
