Is it permissible to blow one's nose when washing the face during ablution?

There is no harm in expelling water that unintentionally enters the nose while washing the face after finishing rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose. This is not considered an excess over the prescribed number. It is preferable when washing the face to start from the top. The Sunnah for rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose is to do it three times from a single handful, not separating them. Exceeding three times is disliked; whoever exceeds that has done wrong, transgressed, and oppressed. If a limb cannot be covered except with two handfuls, it is considered one washing. If one doubts between two and three washings, one should consider it two and then perform a third.
