Will Muslim women remain veiled in Paradise?

Paradise is the abode of bliss, not the abode of obligations. Allah has concealed within it delights that no eye has seen and no ear has heard. It is not appropriate for a Muslim to go to great lengths in asking about the details of matters in Paradise, for Paradise is a world different from this earthly life.

Regarding lowering the gaze, it is mentioned in the description of the Houris: "In them are women limiting [their] gaze," meaning they lower their gazes from those other than their husbands, for they see nothing in Paradise more beautiful than their husbands.

As for wearing the khimar or head covering, the Hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) states: "And her nasif on her head is better than the world and all that is in it." The word nasif has been interpreted as khimar, but this is not sufficient to definitively state that women in Paradise are obliged to cover their heads, for several reasons:

1. Some scholars interpret the word "nasif" as the headband a woman wraps around her head for adornment. 2. The context of the Hadith aims to describe the intense beauty of the women of Paradise, not specifically the nasif. 3. The mention of the nasif is incidental and does not imply that all women wear it at all times and in all places, and in front of all people; this would require specific evidence.
