What is the ruling on a husband offering his wife to another man for marriage, at her request and with his permission and consent, in emulation of the actions of the Ansar?

It is permissible for a man to offer his wife to another man, meaning to divorce her so that the other man may marry her. Al-Bukhari titled a chapter: "Chapter: A man saying to his brother: 'Look at whichever of my wives you wish so that I may divorce her for you,' narrated by Abdur-Rahman ibn Awf." Ibn Battal said: "And in it is the permissibility for a man to offer his wife to righteous people, and to promise to divorce a woman for someone he wishes to marry her."
