Is the singing of the Houris in Paradise—described as a voice unlike anything the creation has ever heard, accompanied by their words: "We are the eternal ones who never perish; we are the joyful ones who never despair; we are the content ones who never complain; blessed is he who belongs to us and to whom we belong"—conditional upon them being Houris, or can they be women from this world, and is this singing exclusive to the husband only, or is it for all the inhabitants of Paradise?

There are narrations that describe the singing of the Houris and wives to their husbands in Paradise. Most of these narrations have some discussion around their authenticity, while some are confirmed. Among the confirmed narrations is what Al-Tabarani narrated and Al-Albani authenticated from Ibn Umar that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, the wives of the people of Paradise will sing to their husbands with the most beautiful voices anyone has ever heard. Among what they will sing is: 'We are the good and beautiful ones, wives of noble people, who look with comforting eyes.' And among what they will sing is: 'We are the eternal ones, so we will not die. We are the secure ones, so we will not fear. We are the residents, so we will not depart.'" Also, from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, the Houris in Paradise will sing, saying: 'We are the beautiful Houris, guided to noble husbands.'" It is possible that the singing of wives includes both women of this world and the Houris.
