Is the zakat on bank deposit accounts to be paid annually or at the end of the term (ten years)?

Zakat is obligatory on bank deposits if they reach the nisab (minimum threshold) and a full year (hawl) passes on them. It is not permissible to delay its payment. It is not permissible to place deposits in interest-based (usurious) banks. If they have been placed there, they must be withdrawn immediately, and the interest disposed of in charitable causes.
