What is the ruling on masturbation due to thinking about one's wife, and what is the ruling on retracting an oath of divorce to abandon something?

If masturbation is due solely to thinking about one's wife, without any physical action from the person, then there is no harm in that. However, if thinking leads to masturbation by hand, it is not permissible. As for swearing by divorce, it is like a conditional divorce that, once it takes effect, cannot be revoked according to most jurists. If the one who swore breaks his oath, the divorce occurs according to the majority, regardless of his intention, and this is the fatwa-giving opinion. Some scholars are of the view that if he intended a threat and did not intend to effect a divorce, then if he breaks his oath, he must offer an expiation for an oath. One must be cautious about swearing by other than Allah, and swearing by divorce is among the oaths of the dissolute.
