Is it obligatory to be certain of the acceptance of sincere repentance that meets the conditions, or is the fear of non-acceptance praiseworthy, analogous to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) derivation from the Almighty’s saying: “And those who give what they give while their hearts are trembling”?

The acceptance of sincere repentance is certain if the repentance is sound, and this is the most preponderant view. However, a servant cannot be certain that their repentance has fulfilled all its conditions, as something unknown to them might invalidate its acceptance. Therefore, the servant combines the fear of not having fulfilled the right of the deed with the hope in their Lord's grace and mercy. This combination gives them hope for salvation.
