What is the ruling on the slaughter of Jews and Christians, and is it sufficient to say "Bismillah" (in the name of God) when eating meat gifted by a person of the Book?

Scholars have unanimously agreed on the permissibility of the slaughtered animal of the People of the Book if the name of Allah is mentioned over it and it is slaughtered according to Islamic rites. However, if the name of Allah is not mentioned over it, or if a name other than Allah's is mentioned, or if it is slaughtered in a non-Sharia-compliant manner, then it is forbidden. As for mentioning the name of Allah over it when eating it, this was mentioned concerning Muslims who had recently converted from disbelief, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded them to mention the name of Allah and eat.
