Is the intercession of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, merely a supplication and plea to Allah for pardon and forgiveness?
Supplication (Du'a) is one of the greatest acts of worship. The intercession (shafa'ah) of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, occurs through supplication and humble entreaty to Allah. Among its types is the Grand Intercession (Ash-Shafa'ah Al-Kubra) which will take place on the Day of Resurrection to relieve people from the horror of the Standing, after Allah grants him permission. He will prostrate himself, and it will be said to him: "Raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted."
