Installment purchases are permissible if the purchase is genuine and adheres to guidelines. However, if the bank lends the customer the price of the device and then charges them installments with an increase, this is forbidden usury (riba), and the involvement of another party does not change the ruling. The questioner must ascertain the nature of the transaction. If it is a legitimate installment sale, then there is no harm in paying the installments through a usurious bank; otherwise, it is not permissible to enter into it.
