What is the ruling on violent games and on those who play them?
Violent sports such as boxing and professional wrestling are forbidden because they involve savagery, aggression, and severe bodily harm, and may lead to death or organ damage. However, if they can be regulated by controls that prevent aggression and are free from harm and শরعی (Shar'i) violations, then they are permissible. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen prohibited taking risks with one's life in violent sports that may lead to destruction, basing his ruling on the Almighty's saying: "And do not kill yourselves. Indeed, Allah has ever been to you Merciful." Therefore, anything that leads to harm is forbidden, and it is not permissible for a person to aggress against themselves by exposing themselves to damage or harm.
