If a man mistreats his wife and withdraws from her without her consent, he is an oppressor. He must treat her kindly and not withdraw from her except with her permission. If he wishes to divorce her, he must fulfill all the rights of a divorced woman. The wife has the right to demand her full rights, and she is not obliged to waive any part of them. The wife is advised to be patient and strive for reconciliation, even if it means foregoing some of her rights, and to make abundant supplications.
