Does chopping onions while fasting and tasting their flavor in the throat break the fast?

The smell of onions for one who did not intentionally inhale it does not invalidate the fast. The arrival of steam from a pot or incense to the throat without the fasting person's choice does not necessitate making up the fast. What cannot be avoided, such as swallowing saliva, does not break the fast.
