Is it permissible to describe one of the Mothers of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her) as beautiful, or to mention that someone has a beautiful wife, and is this considered a description of a woman from which a Muslim does not benefit?

The Prophetic tradition, "A woman should not intimately describe another woman to her husband, as if he is looking at her," prohibits a woman from describing another woman to her husband in meticulous detail, such that she describes the softness of her body and the suppleness of her figure, as this may lead to temptation. As for merely saying that so-and-so is beautiful, it appears that this does not fall under this prohibition, especially if the temptation is absent. The description of Safiyyah, may Allah be pleased with her, as beautiful, is interpreted in this light. Jealousy among co-wives is natural.
