What message can children send to their father who refuses to pay off a debt he owes, despite being well-off?
"The delay of a rich person [in paying a debt] is an injustice." And whoever's debt repayment due date has arrived, and they are able to pay it but do not, they are an oppressor. Allah has warned that whoever takes people's wealth intending to destroy it, Allah will destroy them. The father must repent to Allah by returning rights to their owners before the Day of Judgment, when redress will be sought for those with rights from the oppressor's good deeds. If the children pay off the debt, the father's responsibility is cleared, while he still must repent for procrastination or denial. The children should gently admonish their father without being disobedient or abusive towards him.
