It is narrated in Al-Sahihain and other collections that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel a day and a night except with a ."

There is no شرعي (-compliant) impediment for the mahram of a traveling woman to be the driver of the vehicle transporting them during the journey, whether it is an airplane or otherwise.
