What is the ruling on clipping a horse's mane from between its ears to a quarter of its neck for beauty shows, and what is the ruling on owning horses with this intention?

It is not permissible to waste time, effort, and money on beautifying horses and trimming their hair with the intention of displaying them for their beauty. Horses are of three types: a burden for him who ties them out of ostentation and pride; a shield for him who ties them for the sake of Allah and safeguards their rights; and a reward for him who ties them for the sake of Allah for the people of Islam, for whom good deeds are recorded according to the number of times they eat, drink, and move. A Muslim must fear Allah and use horses for what benefits him in his religion and his worldly life. As for merely trimming a horse's hair, there is no harm in that.
