Do the recitation of the Quran, listening to an Islamic tape, reading a beneficial book, or reading a Hadith count as gatherings of remembrance (majalis al-dhikr) that the angels encompass and for which Allah grants forgiveness, even if I am alone?

Listening to the Quran, Hadith, and lectures from the radio or television earns the reward of a seeker of knowledge for anyone who has the intention, and it falls under the scope of the Hadith: "Whoever traverses a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise," provided there is present intention and sincerity to Allah Almighty.
