ما الحكمة من زيادة عدة المتوفى عنها زوجها عن عدة المطلقة؟

Allah Almighty has prescribed the waiting period (iddah) for divorced women and for widows whose husbands have died, for multiple reasons, including: devotion and obedience to Allah's command, ensuring the purity of the womb, providing an opportunity for the spouses to reconcile (in the case of divorce), demonstrating the gravity of the marriage contract, and expressing sorrow and grief over the husband's death. The waiting period for a widow has been extended because separation by death is more profound, to ensure the purity of the womb from pregnancy, because the soul needs more time to overcome grief, and to avoid offending the husband's family and rushing into another marriage.
