Is it permissible to write Qur'anic verses on the body with charcoal and wipe them off with lemon to treat sorcery (sihr) and the evil eye?
There is no objection to writing Quranic verses on the body for healing from illness or magic, if its benefit is proven by experience and it is written with a pure substance, based on the general texts that permit as long as it does not involve , such as the : "There is no harm in ruqyah as long as it does not involve shirk," and Allah's saying: "And We send down from the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe." It has been reported from some imams, such as Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim, that they had experiences in this regard, with the emphasis that it is not permissible to write with blood or in disrespectful places, or anything that would lead to the degradation of the verses. As for treatment by writing verses with charcoal and wiping them with lemon for envy, it is feared that this may be a superstition, unless the practitioner is known for their righteousness and reports their experience, while observing the Shariah guidelines.
