The answer

It is known from the Salaf (pious predecessors) that (exorcism/healing) was performed by reciting the Quran over the sick, or over water for them to drink, or by writing it, washing it off, and drinking the water. However, burning the Quran for fumigation has not been reported from the Salaf, and it should be avoided because it was not transmitted from them, and because burning and fumigation are practices of charlatans, sorcerers, and Christians.
