Is it obligatory to pay Zakat in Ramadan 2024 based on the wealth reaching the nisab after six months of the year, or should one wait until a full year has passed from the month in which the wealth reached the nisab?
If wealth reaches the (minimum threshold), the hawl (one lunar year) must be calculated from the moment it reached the nisab. If the wealth falls below the nisab, the hawl is interrupted, and a new hawl begins when the wealth reaches the nisab again. So, if the nisab is completed in Rajab, its becomes due in the following Rajab. is not fixed as a month for paying zakat; rather, a hawl is counted from the time the wealth reaches the nisab again. The existence of the nisab throughout the entire hawl is a condition, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no zakat on wealth until a year passes over it."
