The evidence for the permissibility of shaving the newborn's hair on the seventh day is the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He sacrificed a sheep for Al-Hasan and said to Fatimah: "Shave his head and give in charity silver equal to the weight of his hair." Shaving the hair is a Sunnah, so whoever does it will be rewarded, and there is no sin upon whoever is lenient regarding it. It is permissible to delay shaving the hair beyond the seventh day to the fourteenth or twenty-first, or any other day.
