What is the ruling on one who doubts the obligation of expiation (kaffarah) for an oath upon them?

If a person doubts his oath, he is not required to take an oath, or if he doubts whether he has broken it, then neither an oath nor expiation is binding upon him, because the original principle is the absolution of responsibility, and certainty is not removed by doubt.
