Is it permissible to shave one's hair in solidarity with a cancer patient?
The Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, forbade women from shaving their heads, because this is considered a characteristic of men. It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: «Women are not to shave; rather, women are to shorten their hair.» A woman is forbidden from imitating men, because shaving hair disfigures her beauty.
It is not permissible for a woman to shave her head except in cases of extreme necessity, such as medical treatment. It is not permissible to shave it in solidarity with a cancer patient, as this act is meaningless and stems from a lack of intellect and weakness in religion.
