Is it permissible for a wife to shave her head completely for the purpose of repairing damaged hair and improving its growth?
A woman is permitted to shave her hair out of necessity, such as for treatment or to rectify a problem. If her hair has dandruff, and Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about it, he replied, "If it is out of necessity, then there is no harm." He gave an example of wounds on her head that she cannot treat except by shaving. However, without necessity, it is forbidden (haram), because it involves imitating men. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed women who imitate men.
