What is the authenticity of Imam Malik's hadith from Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the definition of usury (riba) in the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah), and what is its importance in Islamic legislation?

In pre-Islamic times (Jahiliyyah), usury (riba) meant that a man would have a debt owed to him by another, due at a certain time. If the debtor was unable to pay when the term expired, the creditor would ask him, "Will you pay, or will you increase [the debt]?" So, either the debtor would pay, or the creditor would increase his right and postpone the term, or he would convert the debt to an older age of livestock, or he would double the money. This illustrates the injustice of the Jahiliyyah, and establishes the meaning of cooperation among Muslims and the obligation to grant respite to the one in hardship, as it explains the Almighty’s saying: (O you who have believed, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful).
