However, it is permissible to combine two prayers while resident (hadar) occasionally to alleviate hardship and difficulty, based on the of Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (peace be upon him) combined Dhuhr and Asr, and Maghrib and Isha in Medina without fear or rain.
