Is it permissible for a traveler to delay the Maghrib and Isha prayers until his return to his hometown, even if he is able to perform Maghrib on time during the journey, in order to avoid hardship? And if he arrives after the time for Isha has begun without having prayed Maghrib and Isha, should he intend to combine them by delaying, or should he make up Maghrib and then perform Isha? And is it permissible for him to delay the combining until the end of the Isha time?

It is permissible for a traveler, if they know they will reach their city after the time for 'Isha' (night prayer) has begun, to delay the Maghrib (sunset prayer) to combine it with 'Isha' as a delayed combination (jam' ta'khir). They should pray 'Isha' as four rak'ahs because their journey ends before its time expires. It is permissible to combine the prayers at any point during the time of the two prayers, but they must have the intention to delay Maghrib before its time expires. Otherwise, they would pray Maghrib as a make-up (qada') and 'Isha' as a timely performance (ada').
