What righteous deeds can a pregnant woman do during her pregnancy?
The most important task for a pregnant woman is to learn beneficial parenting methods from reliable books and specialists, for sound upbringing is the most important duty of parents. Cultivating good manners is not easy; rather, it is acquiring ethics and taste through experience, care, and discipline. Neglecting discipline leads to the ruin of children. "Know that the soul is inherently predisposed to neglected traits and unrestrained manners; its praiseworthy aspects cannot do without discipline, and its pleasing aspects are not sufficient without refinement." Good manners are acquired through experience and struggle, for if intellect alone sufficed, the prophets would have dispensed with it. This is in line with the import of Allah's Almighty saying: (O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones) [At-Tahrim: 6]. It is also advised for a pregnant woman to maintain her obligatory prayers and to supplicate frequently for a righteous child and good health. There is no specific act of worship for pregnant women.
