Is it permissible to inform a friend of one's ill thoughts about her if the intention is to seek clarification and avoid the whisperings of Satan?

The Shariah texts indicate a prohibition against anything that incites hatred and conflict among Muslims. It is not wise to inform a friend of a bad assumption made about her. Good assumptions about her are sufficient. A Muslim is religiously obligated to hold good assumptions, and it is not legislated to seek forgiveness from someone about whom a bad assumption was held.
