If someone swears to abandon a specific thing and to pay a sum of money if he does it, then he must pay the sum if he does what he swore against. Otherwise, he has broken his oath, and the expiation for breaking an oath becomes binding upon him, which is: feeding ten poor persons, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If he cannot find any of these, then fasting for three days. This is if the oath was absolute. However, if the oath not to do something was made intentionally, then there is no consequence upon him if he does it forgetfully.
