Is it permissible to ask God for a sign, through a dream or vision, after the Prayer of Repentance, to ascertain the forgiveness of sin?

If a Muslim repents sincerely from a sin, Allah will forgive him, whether he performs the recommended prayer of repentance or not. He is not required to see a sign of his repentance being accepted, nor is he obliged to ask Allah to show him this sign. If he does so, there is no harm in it; rather, it may even be good.
