It is permissible for a father to revoke a gift he has given to his child, but there are impediments to revoking a gift. Scholars have differed on whether construction on gifted land is an impediment to revoking the gift. The majority of scholars hold that construction prevents the revocation of the gift, and this is the most preponderant opinion. As for the Shafi'is, they believe that construction on the land is not an impediment to revocation. It is desirable to satisfy one's parents and concede to them if they wish it.
