Who are al-Qahtani and al-Jahjah? And are the hadiths mentioned about them authentic, such as: "The Hour will not be established until a man from Qahtan emerges who will drive people with his staff," and "The night and day will not pass until a man from the Mawali (freed slaves/clients) called Jahjah rules"? And what is the opinion regarding those who say that al-Qahtani is Osama bin Laden?

Al-Qahtani is not Osama bin Laden. Scholars have differed on whether Al-Jahjah is Al-Qahtani or not. A group of scholars leaned towards the view that they are not the same person, because Al-Qahtani is from the free people, while Al-Jahjah is from the mawali (freed slaves/clients). It was narrated from Imam Ahmad, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The day and night will not cease until a man from the mawali, called Al-Jahjah, becomes king." Ibn Kathir said: "It is possible that this is the name of Dhu al-Suwayqatayn al-Habashi."

Al-Qurtubi said in Al-Tadhkirah: "He will drive the people with his staff" is a metaphor for his dominance over them and their submission to him. This possibility contradicts the general statement that he is from Qahtan, which outwardly means he is from the free people, and the specific mention that Al-Jahjah is from the mawali.

Ibn Hisham mentioned in Kitab al-Tijan that Imran bin Amr said to his brother Amr bin Amr: "Your lands will be ruined, and Allah has two angers and two mercies for the people of Yemen: The first [anger] is the destruction of the Ma'rib Dam, and the second is the conquest of Yemen by the Abyssinians. The first mercy is the sending of a prophet from Tihama named Muhammad, and the second is that when the House of Allah is destroyed, Allah will send a man named Shu'ayb bin Salih who will destroy whoever destroyed it." It can be inferred from this that if the Abyssinians destroy the House [Kaaba], Al-Qahtani will appear against them and destroy them, and that believers will perform Hajj during the time of Jesus, after the emergence of Gog and Magog and their destruction. And that the wind that takes the souls of the believers will begin with those who remain after Jesus, and the people of Yemen will remain after it. This might be how his saying: "Faith is Yemeni" is interpreted, meaning faith will remain there after it is lost from all other parts of the earth.
