Would you agree to marry a well-mannered and ethical young man from among the people of innovation (Ahl al-Bid'ah), who respects the Companions and reveres Lady Aisha, despite some differences between you?

The Shari'ah commands choosing a spouse of good religion and character for marriage. A person of innovation (bid'ah) is not one whose religion is deemed satisfactory. The people of innovation who show enmity towards the Companions are of different categories: some of them reach a level of disbelief that amounts to deifying Ali, or invoking others besides Allah, or claiming the distortion of the Quran, while others are less extreme than that. Some people of innovation worship through lying and dissimulation (taqiyya). Marrying an innovator may lead to the deviation of the wife or children, and differences in beliefs affect the marital relationship. If the man's innovation constitutes disbelief (kufr), then it is not permissible to marry him; but if it does not constitute disbelief, then it is permissible to accept him.
