Among the causes of negligence in prayer are weakness of faith, belittling the commands of Allah, ignorance of its punishments and its worldly and otherworldly benefits, and its status in the religion, as it is the second pillar after the two testimonies of faith. Also, abandoning prayer in mosques, staying away from admonitions, associating with evil companions, following desires, and admiring non-Muslims, all weaken faith and lead to negligence, and for this reason, one must stay away from bad companions and bad gatherings.
