The answer

Neglecting prayer is a grave sin and a serious transgression. Scholars differ concerning the disbelief of one who abandons it. Some consider him a disbeliever who will abide eternally in Hellfire, while others view him as a disobedient Muslim, for whom an evil end is feared. Allah Almighty has condemned the one who neglects prayer in the Holy Quran, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified the danger of this, mentioning that prayer is the first thing a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Resurrection, and that it is the covenant between Muslims and others, and whoever abandons it has disbelieved. Furthermore, the one who abandons prayer may be resurrected on the Day of Judgment with Pharaoh, Qarun, Haman, and Ubayy ibn Khalaf. Therefore, a Muslim must hasten to sincere repentance from this grave sin.
