What is the ruling on the the first and second oaths taken by a female friend who swore to do something, then swore not to do it?
A Muslim should not swear by Allah Almighty without a valid reason. If your friend made the first oath and intended it, then expiation for the oath becomes obligatory upon her if she does not bring the items. Similarly, expiation for the second oath is obligatory upon her if she intended it and brought the items. If bringing the items is better, then she should bring them to fulfill her first oath, and then expiate for her second oath, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever takes an oath and then sees something else as better than it, let him expiate for his oath and do that which is better."
