Must one wash or change one's clothes if foul-smelling or colored liquids emerge from the anus when intending to perform ablution (wudu) and prayer (salat)? Is it sufficient to wash them with water if the color does not disappear? Must one inspect one's clothes before every prayer?

The fluids discharged from the two private parts are impure, invalidate ablution, and necessitate Istinja' (cleansing the private parts with water or stones). This is based on the statement of Ibn Qudamah: "Whatever exits a person… such as urine or other things, it is impure, meaning whatever exits the two private parts like urine, feces, madhiy (pre-seminal fluid), wadiy (thick white fluid discharged after urination), blood, and other things. We do not know of any difference of opinion regarding its impurity." And based on the statement of the author of Al-Zad: "Whatever exits from a private part absolutely invalidates [ablution]," and "Istinja' is obligatory for every discharge except wind."

Therefore, it is obligatory to wash away impurity from clothes and the body, and to perform ablution for prayer, because both purifications are conditions for its validity. The persistence of a color after washing does not matter if its removal is difficult, based on the hadith of Khawlah bint Yasar, which states: "Washing the blood is sufficient for you, and its trace will not harm you."

However, if its discharge is continuous, then the person is considered to have سلس (incontinence).
