What are the limits of interaction with a Muslim maid, and what is the ruling on her not possessing her passport?
The enjoined kindness to servants, comforting them, and gladdening their hearts. Abu Dharr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «They are your brethren; Allah has placed them as youngsters under your command. So, whoever has his brother under his command should feed him from his food and clothe him from his clothes, and not burden him with what he cannot bear. If he burdens him with what he cannot bear, then he should help him.» In al-Bukhari, Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «When one of your servants brings his food to him, if he does not make him sit with him, then he should give him a mouthful or two, or a meal or two, for he has undertaken its preparation.» As for the procedures for a maid's residency and the required documents, one should refer to those specialized in the laws and regulations of the state.
