What are the limits of interaction with a Muslim maid, and what is the ruling on her not possessing her passport?

The Sharia enjoined kindness to servants, comforting them, and gladdening their hearts. Abu Dharr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «They are your brethren; Allah has placed them as youngsters under your command. So, whoever has his brother under his command should feed him from his food and clothe him from his clothes, and not burden him with what he cannot bear.
