Is learning business and financial sciences, which explain how banks operate and deal with interest, forbidden, or should other sciences be learned first?
It is more befitting for the student to specialize in studying the legitimate methods of developing the Islamic economy and to learn about the permissible and forbidden rulings concerning transactions through the verses of the Qur'an, the Hadith, and the understanding of scholars. If he studies forbidden methods of earning, he should be firm in his intention that he is studying them to avoid them and to warn people against them. He should also consult people of knowledge regarding anything that is unclear to him, just as Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) did: "People used to ask the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about good, and I used to ask him about evil for fear that it might overtake me."
