Is it permissible in the religion to treat a female friend who denies favors with the minimum amount of speech (limiting it to greetings) after good treatment?

A Muslim should strive to make all of their actions for the sake of Allah alone, and not expect reward from anyone but Him. This is because most people do not thank Allah, so how can they thank human beings? This is a truth upon which one must train themselves so that a person may continue in their good deeds. Therefore, do not cut off your kindness to your friend because of her ill-treatment or ingratitude. However, it is not obligatory to greet her if you have already done so, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is not lawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three nights, when they meet and each turns away from the other. The better of the two is the one who initiates the salam."
