What should a handsome young man do to avoid fitna, especially since he notices women's gazes upon him and finds a degree of joy in himself from that?

Allah has commanded men and women to lower their gaze. However, a man's infatuation with a woman is more intense than her infatuation with him, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "I have not left behind me a trial more harmful to men than women." If a man is handsome, he must fear Allah and adhere to the boundaries of Islamic law in dealing with women. He is not required to veil himself like a woman, because women were commanded to wear the niqab so that men would not see them, but men were not commanded to wear the niqab so that women would not see them. This indicates a difference in ruling between the two groups.
